Sandusky, OH; Chicago, IL – “‘I am the bread of life,’ Jesus told them. ‘No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again.’” [John 6:35]
“The Gospel has the power to transform lives and this beat was the perfect canvas for that message.” – iNTELLECT
The vibe is soulful, but, most importantly, the message is food for the soul!
On January 17, 2025, Above the Clouds are bringing listeners home and warming them up with some good ol’ Soul Food.
The duo of producer Tae Lamar (Illinois) and emcee iNTELLECT (Ohio) are hitting everyone in their feelings with their first single of the new year. Above the Clouds has stood out against the Christian rap landscape since their inception back in 2020 as they keep the beat-maker/lyricist combo alive and well.
With their initial single of 2025, Soul Food, the group brings along fellow Polished Arrow Music artists Procyse and JusJames who add their unique touches to the smooth and inviting record. From the opening notes, Soul Food feels like coming home. It is a record that makes connections beyond hardcore hip-hop fans as it reflects familiar moments we all know thanks to the human experience. Casual listeners and novice ones alike will recognize its everyday influences both sonic and lyrical.
Soul Food follows the 2024 record “The Product” and both singles combine to showcase the versatility within the next chapter of the Above the Clouds journey.
Be sure to add Soul Food to your playlist on your favorite music streaming service!

About Above the Clouds:
Rapper iNTELLECT and beat maker Tae Lamar formed the group Above the Clouds in early 2019 due to their common love for Jesus and 90’s hip hop.
Drawing comparisons to classic hip hop groups like Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Gang Starr (who the name of the group is inspired by), this producer/emcee collaboration delivers a nostalgic brand of hip hop that shows that you can deliver the gospel over classic boom bap.
