Welcome to theBookkeeper247 Podcast – the place where faith, culture, and Christian hip-hop collide! In this episode, hosted by Daryl Kemp, we dive into the incredible journey of QEW, a rising artist from Las Vegas, whose story is a powerful blend of faith, resilience, and creativity.

Known for his unique mix of Christian hip-hop and anime influences, QEW opens up about his life’s challenges and how his faith has been a guiding light through it all.

Who is QEW? The Man Behind the Music:

QEW is not your typical Christian hip-hop artist. Hailing from the heart of Las Vegas, a city known for its glitter and sin, QEW stands out for his distinctive fusion of faith, anime, and music. From playing drums in church to crafting beats that tell his story, QEW’s art is deeply personal and unapologetically honest. His music is more than just entertainment—it’s his testimony of overcoming life’s toughest battles.

A Journey of Faith and Resilience:

QEW’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. At just 15 years old, he faced a loss that would test his faith and shape his path forward—the death of his mother.

This devastating event left him grappling with questions and emotions that could have easily derailed his life. Despite being active in church, and serving as a drummer and worship leader, QEW struggled with staying fully committed to his Christian faith during those tumultuous years.

Yet, his involvement in a supportive church community played a crucial role in keeping him connected, even when his faith wavered.

Through his music, QEW channels the pain, hope, and resilience that define his journey. His lyrics are a raw reflection of his battles, a reminder that faith can provide strength even in the darkest moments.

The Impact of Losing His Mother:

QEW’s relationship with his mother was deeply influential in his life and music. She was his rock, his main source of support, and a constant presence guiding him through life’s challenges. Losing her at such a young age forced QEW into adulthood sooner than he was ready, bringing with it a host of emotional and spiritual struggles. He speaks candidly about the pain of losing her and the ways in which this profound loss pushed him closer to God, even when he felt lost.

QEW’s testimony reflects not just his personal struggles but also the resilience that comes from faith. He shares how his church community and family provided vital support, helping him navigate through one of the most challenging periods of his life.

This part of his story highlights the importance of community and the transformative power of faith in times of deep sorrow.

Anime’s Influence on QEW’s Music and Art:

One of the most unique aspects of QEW’s artistry is his deep connection to anime. Characters like Ash Ketchum from Pokémon weren’t just childhood favorites—they were sources of inspiration that helped him navigate his own challenges. Anime’s themes of perseverance, friendship, and battling against the odds resonated with QEW on a personal level, influencing both his music and visual art.

As a talented visual artist, QEW often creates his own artwork, seamlessly blending his love for anime into his musical expression. His music videos and album covers often feature anime-inspired themes, adding a layer of depth and creativity that sets him apart in the Christian hip-hop scene. For QEW, anime isn’t just entertainment; it’s a narrative tool that helps him tell his story in a way that’s both relatable and deeply personal.

Growing Up in Las Vegas: Balancing Sin and Faith:

Las Vegas, known as “Sin City,” is not the easiest place to grow up, especially for someone trying to walk in faith. Surrounded by constant temptations and the city’s notorious lifestyle, QEW faced unique challenges in balancing his beliefs with the environment around him. He credits his mother for shielding him from the negative influences of the city and his involvement in a Christ-centered community for keeping him grounded.

QEW’s music often reflects this tension, exploring the complexities of living in a place that’s often at odds with Christian values. His story is a testament to the strength of a supportive community and the power of faith to keep someone anchored, even in the midst of a storm.

A Powerful “Coming to Jesus” Moment:

Perhaps one of the most defining moments of QEW’s life was his “coming to Jesus” experience—a powerful turning point that renewed his commitment to his faith. After years of drifting away and struggling with his beliefs, QEW found himself back at the feet of Christ, ready to embrace a new chapter. This moment wasn’t just about personal redemption; it was about reconnecting with his purpose and letting his faith lead the way.

Through his music, QEW shares the impact of this transformative moment, using his platform to inspire others to seek their own “coming to Jesus” experiences. His story serves as a reminder that it’s never too late to turn back to God, no matter how far you feel you’ve strayed.

The Intersection of Faith, Anime, and Music:

QEW’s unique blend of anime, faith, and music is a breath of fresh air in the Christian hip-hop world. He’s not afraid to be different, and that authenticity shines through in every track he releases.

By merging his personal passions with his art, QEW creates music that’s not just catchy—it’s deeply meaningful.
