Biggah Kai In Route begins with something bigger than another new single. After more than a decade away from music and performance, the Bronx-born MC, producer, vocalist and songwriter is stepping back into the work with a different understanding of the gift and why he’s carrying it.
During those years away, life kept moving. Marriage, fatherhood, adulthood, trials and spiritual growth reshaped how Kyrell St. Amand understood both himself and his purpose. “In Route” becomes his introduction to listeners meeting Biggah Kai for the first time and a reintroduction for anybody who remembers the artist from before the hiatus.
Ten-Plus Years Changed the Man Carrying the Gift
A decade-plus hiatus can turn a comeback into an attempt to recreate what used to work. Biggah Kai is framing his return differently.
“In Route” represents the beginning of a broader return to both music and ministry. His stated goal is to create intentional music that can edify believers while still reaching people outside traditional Christian spaces without watering down the message to get there.
That distinction gives the comeback its weight. Biggah Kai isn’t simply picking up where he stopped. The years between then and now became part of what he’s bringing back with him.
East Coast Roots. Modern Movement.
Biggah Kai produced “In Route” himself under his producer name, Kai (Kyrell), building the record from an East Coast and boom-bap foundation while pushing that foundation into a more current sound.
The production combines layered 808s, trap percussion, crisp, hard-textured drums and hypnotic melodic movement. The intention is to keep the character of traditional New York Hip-Hop present without trapping the record inside nostalgia.
Direction. Obedience. Purpose. The Narrow Way.
Lyrically, “In Route” centers on direction, perseverance, obedience and remaining on the narrow way through a God-fearing, real-life lens.
That makes the title more than a travel metaphor. The route is connected to staying the course when obedience doesn’t necessarily lead down the broadest or easiest road.
For Biggah Kai, this first release back isn’t presented as arriving at the destination. It’s about recognizing the direction and continuing to move in it.
