A Testimony You Can’t Ignore: Behind the Mic with K’NEK
Written by Daryl Ty, Founder/CEO of theBookkeeper247 (TBK247)
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
—Revelation 12:11 (KJV)
At theBookkeeper247, we’ve always believed that Christian hip hop isn’t just a genre—it’s a ministry. A tool for discipleship. A way to reflect Christ in the culture. So when we launched Behind the Mic, the goal was simple: give artists a place to speak beyond the bars. And in Episode 1, hosted by Justmic, our guest K’NEK didn’t just speak—he poured out a testimony that could only come from someone who’s walked through fire and stayed faithful.
This wasn’t fluff. It wasn’t entertainment. It was the kind of conversation that ministers, challenges, and reminds us all why obedience matters.
From Church Hurt to Holy Healing
K’NEK’s story begins with church hurt—a subject many believers shy away from but far too many have experienced. Raised Catholic, he felt like an outsider. Isolated. Silent in pews surrounded by tradition but lacking connection. For years, religion left him cold. That is, until one persistent friend kept inviting him to Bible study. Not once. Not twice. But for seven years.
That’s biblical faithfulness.
“He that winneth souls is wise.”
—Proverbs 11:30
When K’NEK finally said yes, he was met not with judgment—but love. The kind of love that reflects the nature of God and the body of Christ. That moment didn’t just lead to his salvation—it became the foundation of his ministry, his music, and his purpose.
When Obedience Looks Like Dialysis
One of the most powerful aspects of K’NEK’s journey is that his first album, The Journey, was created while undergoing dialysis. That’s not a marketing hook—that’s spiritual grit. It’s hard to imagine the physical and emotional toll of that season, but even harder to ignore what came out of it: worship. Praise. Testimony.
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”
—Isaiah 1:19
That same spirit of obedience birthed The Journey 2—a record that doesn’t beg for your attention with trendy sounds but commands your spirit with honesty, urgency, and conviction.
The Journey 2: A Musical Testimony
From the opening track to the final “amen,” The Journey 2 is not an album—it’s an altar. Every song builds toward something greater, and K’NEK makes it clear: this is a man who has been in the valley and lived to sing on the mountain.
Let’s walk through a few highlights:
🎧 “Never Letting Go”
The intro features real critiques—authentic negativity spoken over K’NEK’s life and music. But instead of defending himself, he responds in faith. The track stands as a reminder that God calls who He wants, regardless of public opinion.
“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
—Romans 11:29
⏳ “Time Wasted”
This track is an alarm clock for the lukewarm and the spiritually distracted. It echoes Paul’s urgency in Romans 13:11:
“…Now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
K’NEK makes it clear: we don’t have time to play with our calling. We’re living in the end times, and it’s time to move.
💎 “Call It a Hunch”
This one stands out for its candor. K’NEK addresses the performative toughness in Christian spaces. He doesn’t flex false bravado—he challenges it. You can feel his frustration with people posturing for clout rather than preaching with conviction.
“For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.”
—2 Corinthians 10:18
🌾 “Harvest Bound”
A standout track rooted in Galatians 6:9, this song is a spiritual declaration. K’NEK recounts his struggle with illness, family, doubt, and pressure—and yet, he stayed obedient.
“Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
This isn’t just music—it’s a reminder that faithfulness will bear fruit if we stay the course.
The Arrival Is Coming
At the end of The Journey 2, K’NEK drops a preview of what’s next: an upcoming project titled The Arrival. But this isn’t hype—it’s hope. He doesn’t say it from a place of ego, but from expectation rooted in faith.
Because when God says harvest is coming, we don’t ask “how”—we simply get ready.
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it…”
—Philippians 1:6
Real Fellowship. Real Fruit.
One of the most quotable moments in the episode came when K’NEK said:
“Jesus had 12 homies with Him.”
That hit me hard. Jesus didn’t need community—but He modeled it. Why? Because real growth, real healing, and real faithfulness happen in the context of fellowship.
Hebrews 10:24–25 reminds us:
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…”
Whether it’s at church, in the studio, or on a podcast, we need one another. Iron sharpens iron.
Final Thoughts: This Is Ministry
At TBK247, we don’t just share music—we steward movements. K’NEK’s story isn’t a one-off testimony. It’s a blueprint for any believer who feels unseen, unheard, or unsure.
This album? This interview? This ministry?
It’s for the overlooked.
It’s for the obedient.
It’s for the harvest-bound.
So wherever you are in your walk—keep going. Keep pressing. Keep praying.
Because you’re just a prayer away.
