Marked by God: When You Already Know

By Daryl Ty & Dezzy Yates

🛑 You Ever Read Something That Stops You Cold?

Daryl Ty:
This hit me during my morning study. I was reading 1 Samuel 10:1, and it came in like a punch:

“Samuel took the flask of oil, poured it out on Saul’s head, kissed him, and said,
‘Hasn’t the Lord anointed you ruler over His inheritance?’”
— 1 Samuel 10:1 (CSB)

It hit me like a rhetorical question.

Hasn’t the Lord already anointed you?

In other words: You already know.

🎯 When You’re Marked, You Know It

Dezzy Yates:
That verse hits hard because Saul wasn’t being informed—he was being confirmed. Samuel wasn’t introducing him to his calling. He was showing up to affirm what God had already said.

The oil was symbolic. But the conviction? That came from what was already stirred inside him.

🪬 Not Every Mark Is the Same

Daryl Ty:
That took me to another place—Cain.

Different kind of mark. Same God.

“Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that whoever found him would not kill him.”
— Genesis 4:15 (CSB)

Saul was marked to lead.
Cain was marked to live under mercy.
Different meanings. But both were seen and known by God.

💥 Confirmation Isn’t the Beginning—It’s the Revelation

Dezzy Yates:
Here’s where it gets wild: God doesn’t anoint you and leave you guessing. He confirms it in layers.

Look at how it plays out with Saul:

“The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully on you, you will prophesy with them, and you will be transformed.”
— 1 Samuel 10:6 (CSB)

“When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a group of prophets met him. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully on him, and he prophesied along with them.”
— 1 Samuel 10:10 (CSB)

And before any of that?

“When Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed his heart, and all the signs came about that day.”
— 1 Samuel 10:9 (CSB)

God did a private work before the public demonstration.

🎙️ Like My Pastor Used to Say…

Daryl Ty:
“You don’t get ready for worship five minutes before the choir sings—you start Monday.”

What he meant was: preparation precedes power.

We want the Spirit to move, but we ignore the work He’s already doing.
But real worship and calling? It only flows when you’ve already been with Him.

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.”
— John 4:24 (CSB)

🪄 Moses at the Water

Dezzy Yates:
Moses stood at the Red Sea, freaking out. Pharaoh was pressing behind him, water in front. He cried out to God—and God checked him.

“Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to break camp.
As for you, lift up your staff, stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it,
so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.”
— Exodus 14:15–16 (CSB)

God was like: “Why are you calling on Me like I didn’t already equip you?”

🫱🏽‍🫲🏾 God Confirms Both Sides

Dezzy Yates:
This blew my mind—when God moves, He doesn’t just speak to the person He’s sending. He also prepares the one who’s about to receive it.

Look at Elijah and the widow:

“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there;
behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”
— 1 Kings 17:9 (NASB1995)

She already knew before Elijah showed up.
She might’ve acted brand new, saying,

“I only have enough food for me and my son,”
but God had already spoken to her spirit before Elijah ever knocked on her door.

👑 The Public Confirmation Only Echoes the Private Anointing

Daryl Ty:
What’s crazy is that God always works it out like this.

Saul didn’t go around shouting, “I’m anointed.”
He was shy—he was hiding, unsure.

But God had already chosen him. And when Samuel poured the oil, it was a public confirmation of what God had privately spoken.

Same with David.

“The Lord said to Samuel, ‘How long are you going to mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel?
Fill your horn with oil and go. I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem because I have selected a king from his sons.’”
— 1 Samuel 16:1 (CSB)

David didn’t get chosen in that moment.
He was already chosen. The oil just revealed what heaven had already declared.

🔁 You’re Not Waiting for the Anointing—You’re Being Positioned for the Confirmation

Dezzy Yates:
We spend so much time asking God to show us what He’s already shown us. What He’s already stirred in us. The anointing is often already there—we’re just waiting on the confirmation.

Daryl Ty:
And confirmation always lines up with the Word:

“Now it is God who strengthens us, along with you, in Christ, and who has anointed us.
He has also put his seal on us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:21–22 (CSB)

🙌🏽 Final Word

Dezzy Yates:
You ain’t gotta chase confirmation. God gives it when it’s time. He speaks to both sides.

Daryl Ty:
And when He does, you won’t be confused. You won’t be shaken.
Because when you’re marked by God…
you already know.
