TC aka The Collector Returns After 4 Years with Should’ve Got What We Deserved

It has been four years since we last had a full-length project from TC (aka The Collector), and the wait has officially ended with his latest release: Should’ve Got What We Deserved. At theBookkeeper247, we’ve been locking in with this 15-track album, and the consensus is clear—this isn’t just music; it’s a sober, soulful ministry.

“It has so many bars I thought I was back in prison,” says Daryl Ty, co-owner of theBookkeeper247. “The difference is TC brings freedom from bondage with his God-fearing message. This album is, in one word: Convicting.”

The Heart of the Project: Mercy vs. Justice

The core of this album is a heavy, necessary reflection on the goodness of God. TC moves away from the “you, you, you ”finger-pointing often found in music and instead focuses on the “me and we.”

It’s a transparent testimony about the walk, the challenges, and the uncomfortable truth that if God dealt with us strictly by justice, we would have earned wrath. Instead, He chose mercy.

As TC puts it:

“Honest, transparent with the truth is the only way I know how to steward what God has given me”

First Spin Reactions

The feedback from the community—including heavy hitters like Hugh Holla, Justmic, Pacaso and JosefWitDaCoaton—has been electric:

  • Justmic’s Take: The veteran artist and co-host summed up the entire 45-minute experience in one word: “Refreshing.”

  • Production & Sound: The “soulful samples” and “crazy” beats provide a backdrop that Hugh Holla describes as “easy on the ear,” while noting that TC is absolutely “running on the track” with his delivery.

  • Impact: Listeners have noted that the project “cut” and “ministered” to them deeply.

  • The Content: From the depth of “Deep Calleth Unto Deep” to the high energy of “Blood of Jesus,” the album forces you to change your “favorite track” four times before you even finish the playlist.

  • Fellow Christian rap artist Pacaso shared his response after a full listen of the album:

“TC — just did a full pass on the new album and bro!! The songs are full of conviction, hope, and TONS of God’s mercy and grace. It’s refreshing and yet soul-stirring. Thank you for sharing your walk through music. It’s much needed. Added to my 2026 Album of the Year candidates. ‘See It Right,’ ‘Laundry Day,’ and ‘Swine’ are at the top of my list. I think it was ‘PsalmsNineTen’ that had me convicted over a few things. Well done as always.”
