TC(The Collector) “Promise Land” Album Details + Review

TC(The Collector) “Promise Land” Album will spotlight TC(The Collector) as a bright light in our culture with a bright future.

I don’t even think we can call TC(The Collector) an upcoming Christian hip hop artist because he is already here! Right from the “Intro” on “Promise Land” you can tell the track needs his bars and not vice versa!

Don’t get me wrong, the track is hot but TC(The Collector) was able to allow God to use him to breathe lyrical life into that track! It’s so much meat in the intro!

“Intro” Hot Bars: “They cooking on social but that ain’t no kitchen” and “Want to be kings but this ain’t no Ithaca”

We all know the social media standouts and TC(The Collector) reminded us that just because you stand out on social media does not mean a thing if it does not translate into what you do off social media!

The second hot bar that caught my ear on the “Intro” to “Promise Land” was, “want to be kings but this ain’t no Ithaca.” That bar alone had me reach out to TC(The Collector).

I felt it was a double meaning metaphor but wanted to make sure. So I asked TC(The Collector) to explain and break down the bar to me.

TC said, “It’s a little of both. One stemming from the Odyssey where when the true king left everybody and “wanted that title/role of being the king” believing the true king wasn’t going to return. (Greek Mythology of Odyssey)

The second referencing is from the Old Testament where they wanted to be like the surrounding nations in having a king so they received God’s permission to do so.”

“So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.” But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”” 1 Samuel‬ ‭8:4-9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

WHOA!!!!

TC(The Collector) went from there into the next set of bars, “bearing no fruit turns the water to vinegar ( permissive) running with gifts weaken the fibula/

“Meaning if it’s not God’s Divine will it can’t stand or last” TC explained.??????????

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the “Promise Land” Album!

Favorite Tracks:

The Intro, Sick & Tired, XI VI, Remember, Patience is Needed ft. Trutha, Rigor Mortis (interlude), Dusty Bible Ft. Gitemjay, and God’s Grace ft. DJ Barrcode.

Short Review:

What I love about TC’s music is he has me looking up scripture! Eshon Burgundy has me do the same thing when I listen to him. That’s what time it is! So lets fact check TC on some of his bars and themes in his songs.

On “XI VI”, which is short for Hebrews 11:6. My favorite bar on that track is “learning to trust God and not the J.O.B.!”

Personal Testimony:

When the rescission hit 11 years ago my wife got laid off and I went from all the overtime I wanted to straight 40 hour work weeks. The reason it’s so easy for me to remember is it happened when our newborn twins were 6 weeks old. They are now 11.

We lost 5 cars, 2 houses, and ended up in a ratchet apartment where our older son got robbed at gunpoint. We ended up going bankrupt and all we had for real was what we could carry.

It was hard but through our faith in the Lord, He delivered us out of that ratchet apartment to a lease to own home! Peep this though, when the landlord asks for my background check my past, on paper, was just as ratchet as the apartment we were in at the time. Gun cases, Trafficking Cocaine charges, Possession of a control substance just to name a few things that was on my name.

I remember my landlord looking at my criminal background report and saying, “I don’t care what this paper says. The Lord gives us second and multiple chances so we are going to give you one.”

I may have been dirty on paper but when I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior his precious BLOOD cleaned me!????????

Heres the facts to TC’s “XI VI” song provided in scriptures.

“And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Dusty Bible – TC refers to 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

TC(The Collector) and Gitemjay are basically saying, don’t get mad at them for calling all those out saying God is quiet in their lives. Open up that Dusty Bible of yours and seek Him for yourselves.

In “No Negativity” TC(The Collector) refers to Proverbs‬ ‭18:21 and Ephesians‬ ‭4:29.

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs‬ ‭18:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians‬ ‭4:29‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Keep all that negative talk out your mouth away from me! Those are big facts if you check it with scriptures! You become who you hang with. I have a friend that always says, “you don’t see no chickens flying with eagles.”

Constructive criticism is one thing, but tearing someone down just because is another!

Conclusion:

This album is not for everyone, but it should be! The features with Trutha, Gitemjay, Mitch Darrell, and Dezzy Yates give this album an extra boost but trust and believe TC(The Collector) holds his own on every track.

What I like about the collaborations is I know these guys are building personal relationships with each other and I think that is awesome. Shot out to FiveTwenty Collective for allowing us to be a part of their GroupMe chat room.

If I could give the listener any advice it would be to listen with your Bible. Like TC and Gitemjay says, “you know and I know it’s dust on your Bible.”? Don’t be offended, this album had me pick up mine as well!

”Promise Land by TC(The Collector) is definitely Bookkeeper247 approved!
